These were drawn on the release date of the “Friday the 13th ‘09” film, and now, I’m uploading these on the DVD release date of the Jason film. :stab:

This is a project idea that I’ve been brewing for one heck of a long time; somewhere around after I finished my first ‘Friday the 13th’ home comic waaaaay back in 1998-1999.
Originally when I did this, I had the mini poster at the bottom, but since I wanted to have this in a chronological manner. So I re-edited it in reversed, which took me quite a while to do. ^^;

The mini poster you see at the top was the first & original concept of the poster itself, with a little cheesy inspiration of the 5-Disc DVD box set of course. Though I might remove the Hockey Mask in the foreground in the final design to capture the essence of an origin story & not put so much ‘Horror’ stuff in it, as this is more along the lines of a Boy’s Life rather than a Killer/Suspense comic.

The reason why I had Kid Jason uncovered here is because for two reasons:

1.) Being underwater for a long while will deteriorate the natural fibers of the swimming shorts and will loosen when Jason thrashes his way to the surface of the lake.

2.) Many designs & fan works of these often have Jason not wearing the dresswear, probably because of the Renascence style to it & maybe it was also interpreted in the original film. So I thought I would follow that idea for this medium.

3.) His neutral visage is often symbolic of Birth, or if you will, Rebirth in this issue & also for the sake of Innocence because Jason is now living like a Wild/Feral Child & surviving by his own instincts.

The full page you see at the bottom is a 4-way design of what I could do for more ideas of the comic’s poster campaign. Here’s a description for each of them-

Top Left: Obviously the same initial design of the mini poster, but I didn’t think I did quite as well with this one. I like the original mini poster design a lot better that this one, mostly because the stance & facial expression is done better than this one here. Still, practice will make perfect.

Top Right: The reflective version where You see Jason as a child gleaming down the surface of the water & foreshadowing what he will eventually become as an adult.
I wanted him to be shoeless here because children in bare feet often show a more natural type of physicality & energy to them. So Jason will also be mostly barefoot in this comic because, making sense, he lives near the water & in the hot summer climate, and shoes is an optional feature in here.

Bottom Left: The infamous “Episode I” stylized poster where you always see a younger characters’ destiny simply by looking at the shadow next to them. =p
You’ll notice that Jason is a bit emotional in this & holding a stick in his hand, whereas the showing interpretation is the opposite; showcasing a relentless Jason & holding his Machete in his hand.
Highly Symbolic. ;)

Bottom Right: Another emotional piece but the opposite from the previous design. This one shows Jason at an enraged moment with the Mask in the background, foreshadowing his downfall.
I’m not too pleased at how this came out, mostly due to the body language not being what I wanted to fully be & the Hockey Mask is not in sync with the character.
Once again, his neutrality is symbolic of the innocence & the full emotional Rage that he’s feeling.

All in all, some pretty good stuff that I’ll be working on come this November the 13th. :iconjason-voorheesplz: :stab:
